Oakland Roots SC Renews Purpose-Driven Partnership with Anthem Blue Cross

Oakland, CA – Oakland Roots Sports Club announced today that they have agreed to a multi-year extension to the purpose-driven partnership with Anthem Blue Cross (Anthem). The Anthem partnership has been one that has seen Roots SC and Anthem team up on Roots in the Community for community and purpose-driven initiatives. Anthem will continue to proudly serve as Oakland Roots’ official health care benefits partner and as the Front of Jersey partner.


“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Anthem. The work we are able to do in the Community, with the support of Anthem Blue Cross has been transformative for our Club and aligns closely with our Purpose,” said Oakland Roots SC President, Lindsay Barenz. “Anthem shares our commitment to connecting our communities with resources to increase the health, equity, and happiness of Oakland.”

The partnership will run from 2024 through the USL Championship 2026 season. The partnership is founded on the shared goals of Anthem and Roots SC to help bring physical and mental health support and services to the community. Oakland Roots SC and Anthem will continue to team up on community initiatives such as Random Acts of Kindness, Community Coach Training, Small Business Spotlights, and Roots in the Community, Oakland Roots’ grassroots community outreach program. Roots in the Community, presented by Anthem Blue Cross, is focused on growing the game of soccer and increasing access for all, whether as players, coaches or fans.
