Ange Postecoglou has hailed Tottenham‘s early strikes in the January transfer market and promises Timo Werner struggles at Chelsea do not concern him.
Werner has joined Spurs on loan from RB Leipzig until the end of the season hoping to recapture the form that secured his £47.5million move to Stamford Bridge in 2020.
He won the Champions League at Chelsea but returned to Leipzig in a cut-price deal dubbed an expensive flop with a reputation for erratic finishing and always being offside.
‘I don’t look too much into that,’ said Postecoglou. ‘I’m looking at what he can give us today not what happened three or four years ago. I’d dare to suggest he’s a different player, certainly different person. We all evolve. He’s more mature probably different stage of his life.’
With his pace and high energy, Werner appears a good fit for Postecoglou’s style. The Spurs boss also likes his versatility and the fact he could play in any of the three roles across his forward line.

‘When talking about players coming in, it’s about do I see them playing in the team I’ve got and I’m creating,’ he added. ‘Timo was at point where he was looking for something to change from his current status and moving was one of those options.
‘What happened in past not relevant. He’s at a good age, has national team aspirations, wants to play at highest level and this club offers him that opportunity.’
Spurs have also signed Radu Dragusin, a Romanian centre-half from Genoa, identified by technical director Johan Lange and his recruitment team and approved by Postecoglou.
