Syracuse (8-5-1, 1-4-1) returns home to the SU Soccer Stadium to face Clemson (7-4-2, 3-3) in an ACC encounter on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.

 

The Syracuse-Clemson Series:

Clemson has a 7-0-1 advantage in the all-time series with Syracuse. The two teams first met on Sept. 26, 2013. with the Tigers claiming a 1-0 win. 

Syracuse Status:

The Orange are returning home after three consecutive conference games on the road. On Sunday at #2 Virginia, Syracuse sophomore Koby Commandant scored in the final two minutes, earning the Orange a 2-2 tie with the Cavaliers.

Graduate student Chelsea Domond tops Syracuse with five goals and five assists. Redshirt sophomore Erin Flurey is right behind Domond with four tallies on the year.

Freshman goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosh finished the Virginia game with a career-best nine saves. She ranks second among ACC goalkeepers in save percentage (.831).

Clemson Status:

Clemson is coming off consecutive, 2-1 ACC triumphs, at Louisville (2-1) and against #24 Virginia Tech. The Tigers have been ranked as high as 14th in this season’s national poll.

Senior defender Harper White was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week and was a member of the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the first time in her career. 

Junior goalkeeper Halle Mackiewicz has started all 13 games for Clemson. She has a 1.35 goals-against-average and a .717 save percentage. 

Notable Notes:

  • The ACC has three of the top sixteams and six of the top 25 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Poll. 
  • Eleven different players have scored goals for Syracuse over the 14 contests.
  • Freshman Grace Gillard leads Syracuse in minutes played with 1,233. The Orange 1,000-minute club also includes graduate student Jenna Tivnan (1,219) and sophomore Emma Klein (1,181).
  • Four Syracuse players have started all 14 games — Tivnan, Commandant, Klein, and Gillard.
