Manchester United, Tottenham and Manchester City want to sign Jarrad Branthwaite

Class defender hints he could play for Leeds if they get promoted

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite at the end of the season.

According to a report from Daily Mail, a number of English clubs are keen on signing the 21-year-old defender and Tottenham face competition from Manchester United and Manchester City.

The two Manchester clubs are reportedly willing to offer more than £50 million for the central defender. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Brathwaite is highly rated in the Premier League and he is undoubtedly one of the best young defenders in the country. He could prove to be a superb acquisition for all three clubs.

Spurs need to bring in another quality central defender this summer. They have looked vulnerable defensively in recent weeks and they need to tighten up at the back if they want to compete for trophies next season. Branthwaite could form a superb partnership with the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven.

Jarrad Branthwaite has been linked with Man United.

Meanwhile, Manchester United need defensive additions as well. Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane will leave the club on a free transfer and Harry Maguire has been linked with an exit as well.

Manchester United must plug the gaps in the defence in order to bounce back strongly and the 21-year-old would be a long-term addition. He has all the attributes to develop into a top class player and regular football at Tottenham or Manchester United could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his world class potential.

Meanwhile, the opportunity to join Manchester City could be quite attractive for the player as well. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world and they have a proven track record of winning trophies consistently. They are well placed to win the league title this season and it will be interesting to see if they can beat the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham to his signature.
