Richarlison has explained why he decided to leave Everton in the summer as he has suggested that his former club are “lacking ambition”.
The Brazil international moved to England in 2017 as he joined Watford, who were then competing in the Premier League.
Everton saw enough from the forward in his debut season to splash out a potential total fee of £50m to bring him to Goodison Park.

The attacker ended up spending five seasons with the Toffees and he was consistently regarded as their most important player.
He scored an impressive 53 goals in 152 appearances across all competitions and they would arguably now be a Championship team had it not been for his influence last season.
The Toffees ended up finishing 16th as they secured their Premier League status with one game to spare. Richarlison netted ten times in the league as they moved away from the bottom three.
It was only a matter of time before he moved on and he got a transfer elsewhere in the summer. Tottenham spent around £60m to snatch him away from their league rivals.
Richarlison came off the bench in the opening weeks of the season but he has started Tottenham’s last three games.
He provided an assist in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Fulham before he netted a brace in their Champions League group stage victory over Marseille.
Richarlison has argued that Everton did not show “that eagerness to win matches and trophies”:
“It’s always a tough call when you have such strong connections with your club, and that was definitely the case for me,” Richarlison told FourFourTwo.
“I was happy at Everton and I’m grateful for everything I learned there. It’s a big club with a lot of history.
“However, perhaps they’re suffering from a lack of ambition nowadays. You know, that eagerness to win matches and trophies.
“I spent four years there and I could see there was still a very long way to go to achieve big things.
“I felt it was the right time to move on, and the club also had to make some money. It was a good deal for everyone involved. I’m delighted with this new challenge at Spurs.”
Looking back on last season, Richarlison has conceded that it was “very stressful”:
“It was a very stressful season, to be honest. We had a lot of injuries and the squad wasn’t big enough to cope. I personally had some issues, too,” Richarlison continued.
