Frank Lampard considering unorthodox striker pairing

Salomon Rondon, Richarlison, Everton, March 2022.

Following a decent run in the last couple of games, the predicted Everton team to face Liverpool could see Frank Lampard utilise an unorthodox option to get a foothold.

Despite a pretty poor run, and Everton teetering on the edge, they have managed to put in some decent performances of late. Lampard’s side shocked the league, when they beat top-four contenders Manchester United 1-0.

Following that game, they pulled a goal back late on through Richarlison, to draw 1-1 with Leicester City.

The Brazilian has been a fantastic asset for the Toffees this season and is their top scorer. Lampard spoke of the “benefit” of having a versatile player like him in the side in his pre-match press conference.

He also hinted that Richarlison could be paired with an unorthodox option, Salomon Rondon. The manager acknowledged that he was a “great option” and given the power of Liverpool’s centre-back corps, he may well be employed to rough them up.

His physical presence could be utilised, in the absence of the injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Coleman and Mykolenko could remain as the right and left-backs.

The midfield trio could remain as Allan, Delph and Iwobi. Indeed,…
