Ontario, Calif. – Having earned several accolades during his first season in professional indoor soccer, Empire Strykers standout Marco Fabián is far from done turning heads in the United States. The former Mexico international and two-time FIFA World Cup veteran will remain highly visible during the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) offseason by starring on Peacock’s Love Undercover, a reality dating show set to premiere this coming Thursday, May 9.
Since joining the Strykers in early December, Fabián has lit up the MASL with his explosive attacking play, earning Golden Boot, Elite Six, and Newcomer of the Year honors in the process.
While the the 34-year-old enters new terrain with his participation in Love Undercover, his latest endeavor sees him continue to rub elbows with household names from the world of soccer. As Fabián looks for a romantic partner in a pool of 18 California-based women, so do two fellow international stars in ex-Netherlands ace Ryan Babel and English Premier League alum Jamie O’Hara, both 37. The quintet of former or current professional players is completed by Mexican goalkeeper Sebastián Fassi, 30, and Lloyd Jones, 28, a member of England’s Charlton Athletic FC.
As part of the show’s premise, Fabián and company, all of whom hail from countries other than the U.S., pretend to have mainstream jobs – such as ad salesman, conditioning coach, or construction worker – in order to hide their true identities and celebrity status.
According to Peacock, Love Undercover is “a modern-day fairytale meets buddy comedy about an elite group of international soccer stars who come to the United States on a secret quest for true love.”
The streaming service’s official synopsis continues like this:
“We’ll follow them on an epic journey filled with drama, heartbreak and self-discovery. Can they win over the ladies without their fame and fortune? Will they manage to keep their true identities a secret? And will any of them fall for an American princess before inviting them back to their home countries and testing their relationships on the global stage? For these men, finding love is the # 1 goal.”
