Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) travels to face the Las Vegas Lights FC of the United Soccer League (USL) Championship in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 on Wednesday, May 8.

The win-and-advance match is scheduled for Cashman Field in Las Vegas at 7:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on watch.usopencup.com and ESPNLA 710 AM and 980 AM La Mera Mera.

NEWS & NOTES

The U.S. Open Cup is the oldest national soccer tournament in the United States.

The single elimination tournament features professional, semi-professional and amateur teams competing for the Open Cup title and an automatic berth in next year’s Concacaf Champions Cup Tournament.

The 2024 U.S. Open Cup features 96 teams from across the amateur and professional ranks, including eight MLS clubs.

This is the fifth time LAFC will compete in the historic U.S. Open Cup competition – the Club’s best performance in the tournament was in 2018 when they advanced to the semifinal round.

From 2021-2022 the Las Vegas Lights served as LAFC’s second team in the USL.

In 2021, current LAFC head coach Steve Cherundolo led the Las Vegas Lights as head coach…Current LAFC assistant coach Enrique Duran was the Lights head coach in 2022.

Current LAFC players Erik Duenas, Nathan Ordaz and Abraham Romero all played for the Lights at the USL level.
