Transfer Goalkeeper Keara Fitzgerald Joins WSU Soccer


PULLMAN, Wash. – Former UC San Diego senior goalkeeper Keara Fitzgerald announced her transfer to Washington State University to compete with the Washington State women’s soccer team next season, WSU Head Coach Todd Shulenberger announced. Fitzgerald, a native of Ventura, California, led the Big West in saves and saves per game for the Tritons.
 
Fitzgerald established herself as a captain during her junior season, setting a career and program record with 10 saves in a single game, and started all 19 matches for UCSD. She finished the season with 105 saves, best in the Conference, and posted four clean sheets.
 
During her senior season, Fitzgerald was recognized as the Big West Defensive Player of the Week after making eight saves in a win over Cal Poly, Oct. 27. She went on to lead the League in saves again and added four shutouts for nine career clean sheets.
 
Off the field, Fitzgerald was named to the 2023 Fall Big West All-Academic Team and the 2021 Big West Commissioner’s Honor Roll. She expects to graduate this spring with a degree in international business and a minor in marketing.
 
Prior to entering college, Fitzgerald played club soccer with Kristy Walker’s Eagles Soccer Club ECNL and competed for Foothill Technology High School as a 3-time Tri-Valley First Team selection and 3-time League champion. Fitzgerald also spent time competing with Tormenta FC in the USL W League.
