U15s and U17s Advance to the Champions Bracket in the 2024 Generation adidas Cup

The FC Cincinnati Academy had a successful start to the 2024 Generation Adidas Cup at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. this past weekend. The U17s and U15s both finished the group stages 2-1-0 and advanced to the single-elimination Championship Bracket in their respective age groups.

The U17s, competing in Group A, went 2-1-0 to secure first place in a competitive group. The Young Garys started off slow with a loss in game one to Vancouver Whitecaps FC 0-1, but day two was a different story as the club picked up wins against Philadelphia Union (2-0) and Atlas FC out of Mexico (1-0). Stefan Chirila knocked in the game winning goal in game three. The U17s lead off round one of the Champions Bracket at 2:30 p.m. ET against Sporting Kansas City.

The U15s, competing in Group B, went 2-1-0 to claim second place in their respective group. The Young Garys split games on day one, with a 2-1 victory over the Portland Timbers and a loss against Sporting Lisbon (Portugal) 0-2. On day two, the squad was able to clinch a championship bracket wild card berth with a 1-0 win over D.C. United. Jared Cardenas was able to connect with the back of the net for the game winning goal. The U15s will compete against Brøndby IF in round one of the Champions Bracket at 10:00 a.m. ET. The game will be streamed on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
