Utah Royals News Release

HERRIMAN, Utah – Utah Royals FC (1-4-1, 4 pts, 13th NWSL) face Angel City FC (2-3-1, 7 pts, 9th NWSL) this Friday at America First Field at 7:30 p.m. MT.

Fresh off a 0-0 draw against Houston Dash last Saturday, the Royals remain at home for their second consecutive home match. Saturday marked the first points earned by the home side since March 22, when they defeated North Carolina Courage 2-1 at home.

Newly signed iconic French midfielder Amandine Henry made her Royals debut last Saturday and immediately elevated the level of the entire team. Her poise in possession settled the squad and her passing ability unlocked attacking avenues that were previously closed. Now after having another full week of training along with one match under her belt, Henry will hope to have an even bigger influence in the midfield against her former club, Angel City FC.

ACFC enters matchweek seven having lost against league-leaders Kansas City Current at home last weekend 3-1. Prior to the loss to KC, they recorded back-to-back wins against Chicago Red Stars and North Carolina Courage. They will face a unique challenge in Utah, having never played at America First Field’s elevation (4,463 ft above sea level) which is by far the highest in the league. The Royals were frustrated last weekend by Houston’s defense, only recording a .9 xG despite having 11 shots, four of which forced saves out of Houston goalkeeper Jane Campbell.

Following Friday’s away match, Utah Royals FC hit the road for the next three matches. They will first head west to take on San Diego Wave on May 8, then the squad heads east for rematches against Chicago Red Stars (May 12) and North Carolina Courage (May 17). The Royals will return to America First Field on May 25 to take on Kansas City Current at 8:00 p.m. MT (tickets are available at ).
