ATLANTA – Atlanta United 2 returns home for Friday night action against New York City FC II at Fifth Third Stadium on May 3. The match is slated to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be streamed on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, while fans can also tune in to the Soccer Down Here audio stream.

Scouting Report

NYCFC II is coming into Friday’s match with a 2-3-1 record (8 points) and sits in ninth place in the Eastern Conference. NYC is the only MLS NEXT Pro side still in the U.S. Open Cup after taking down Hartford Athletic 3-2 and will face Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on May 8. New York is currently tied for 10th place in goals scored this year with 12 goals and a differential of +2. NYC’s Jonathan Shore leads the team in scoring with four of New York’s 12 goals coming from the 16-year-old midfielder. NYC will be looking to return to the win column after a 3-1 home loss to Crown Legacy FC on Sunday, April 28.

Atlanta United 2 is coming off a 2-0 defeat to Chicago Fire FC II on Sunday, April 28 in the club’s first away match of the season. Neither side was able to create many chances in the contest before Chicago broke through in the 39th minute following a penalty kick. Atlanta continued to battle coming out of the break but was unable to carve out many opportunities. In the waning moments of the match, Chicago’s Omari Glasgow ripped a left-footed shot from the edge of the 18, ricocheting off the crossbar and over the goal line to seal the result.

ATL UTD 2 holds a 1-1-0 record against NYCFC II, with the last meeting between the two sides ending in a thrilling 4-2 home victory for Atlanta on June 25, 2023.
