Harry Kane to join England camp despite suffering ankle injury

Harry Kane is set to link up with the England squad for their March internationals despite picking up an ankle injury while playing for Bayern Munich.

Bayern have confirmed that Kane has still travelled to join the squad ahead of their friendlies with Brazil and Belgium.

Worries arose after the 30-year-old suffered an ankle injury when colliding with the goalposts in Bayern’s 5-2 win over Darmstadt on Saturday. Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel said Kane had “slipped and fell into the net, twisting his ankle.”

However, it seems Kane will still be available for the England squad, much to the relief of manager Gareth Southgate.

Bayern released a comforting statement, but didn’t outline the severity of Kane’s injury. The club said: “The striker has still travelled to international duty with England and will be treated by the team doctors there, in close consultation with the FC Bayern medical department.”

The England captain took his tally to 31 league goals during the game against Darmstadt, setting a new record for the number of goals scored in a Bundesliga debut campaign.

He will be an integral member of the England squad when they face Brazil and Belgium in friendly matches as they ramp up preparations for this summer’s Euro 2024.

Kane will be making a grand return to England with both games at Wembley stadium. The striker left his homeland for Germany when signing for Bayern in the summer of 2023. He’s enjoying a fruitful season in the Bundesliga, scoring 37 goals in all competitions so far and breaking many records along the way.

On the other side of the March internationals, Kane is set to return to England at club level, with Bayern being drawn against Arsenal in the Champions League. He’s scored 14 goals in 19 games against the Gunners in his career so far.
