March 14, 2024 – National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) News Release
NEW YORK – All 14 clubs of the National Women’s Soccer League announced final rosters Wednesday ahead of 2024 season kickoff. Teams are permitted to name a minimum of 22 players and a maximum of 26 players to active rosters. The roster may be composed of a combination of senior players and up to four (4) supplemental players.
Additionally, effective immediately, the NWSL has increased the number of international roster spots per team from five (5) to seven (7) spots with approval from U.S. Soccer. Teams may acquire additional international spots via trades.
The league’s 12th campaign opens this Friday, March 15, as NJ/NY Gotham FC hosts San Diego Wave FC at Red Bull Arena in the 2024 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET.
Following the Challenge Cup, the 2024 regular season kicks off Saturday, March 16, as the Kansas City Current host Portland Thorns FC in the inaugural match at CPKC Stadium, the first purpose-built stadium for a women’s professional sports team. The regular season opener, set for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday, March 16, will air live on ABC.
