Bayern Munich are back in Bundesliga action on Saturday as they host the relegation-threatened Mainz.
Thomas Tuchel earned some respite in midweek as his side overcame a 1-0 first leg deficit to progress into the Champions League quarter-finals. Harry Kane scored twice for the Bavarians in a 3-0 second leg victory over Lazio.
While they kept their continental dream alive in midweek, Bayern‘s hopes of securing a 12th straight Bundesliga title were dealt yet another blow last Friday as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Freiburg. Bayer Leverkusen’s lead at the summit has crept into double digits and it’s going to take a monumental collapse for Bayern to usurp them.
Mainz, meanwhile, have failed to recover from their woeful start to the season under Bo Svensson and look certain to finish in the bottom three having won just two Bundesliga games all campaign.
Here’s 90min’s preview of Bayern’s upcoming Bundesliga fixture.
