Racing Louisville head coach Bev Yanez has completed her technical staff with the appointment of Canada Soccer Hall of Famer Carmelina Moscato as assistant coach, the club announced Monday.
Moscato, 39, comes to Louisville with a long list of soccer accomplishments, including three World Cup trips, an Olympic bronze medal and a Concacaf gold medal as a player and a Liga MX Femenil title as the head coach and technical director at Tigres in Mexico.
The Mississauga, Ontario, native has held an array of professional roles since her retirement as a player in 2016. Moscato has coached at the college, youth national team and pro levels – and she has also been a league commissioner and a director of football – with her career taking her to Australia, the Bahamas, Denmark, Mexico and the U.S.
Moscato even has a previous connection to Louisville: She worked three seasons as an assistant for Karen Ferguson-Dayes at the University of Louisville in the late 2000s while still playing professionally.
“I’m incredibly excited to have Carm on staff!” Yanez said. “I am excited for all she will bring to the environment because of who she is, what her experiences are and her genuine passion for the game. I can’t wait to all be together and provide the best environment possible for the club as a whole.”
