2024 Indomitable Scholar Series Opens with Black History Month Scholarship

Republic FC Celebrates 10th Season with Commemorative Logo, Fan-Focused Celebrations

This February, Republic FC is once again teaming up with the Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce to celebrate and invest in the next generation of the region’s leaders. Beginning today, the community partners are accepting applications for a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded to a qualified and deserving student.


“There are so many outstanding students in our community that will undoubtedly go on to be leaders and changemakers, both locally and beyond,” said Republic FC Director of Community Investment Kevin Burdick. “By intentionally supporting populations that are often underrepresented across various industries, we hope to create a more diverse and equitable future for our community. Thank you to the Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce for continuing to partner with us in this vital initiative.”

“We believe that the future and growth of our region is deeply tied to the success of our young people,” said Azizza Davis Goines, Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce President & CEO. “We are thrilled to work with Republic FC to support and celebrate a local student on their journey, and hope that this partnership will inspire businesses and individuals throughout Sacramento to think about the unique ways they can invest in the next generation as well.”

Applicants must be currently enrolled at an eligible high school or in a minimum of six units at a California Community College, and intend to enroll in a four-year college or university, or a California Community College (minimum 12 units). Additionally, they must live in the Sacramento region. Applications must be submitted by Thursday, February 29 and will be screened by a committee from Republic FC and the Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce. The recipient will be honored at the club’s season opener on March 9.

The Black History Month Scholarship kicks off Republic FC’s annual Indomitable Scholars series, which has awarded over $13,000 to standout students since 2019. Throughout the year, the club will partner with various community partners, including the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and The Sacramento LGBT Community Center, to extend the program to support students who often face significant challenges in pursuing a higher education.
