The thought of a parent walking into their child’s office to negotiate his pay rise or wage demands is an unthinkable prospect.
But in the world of football, this is becoming a rather common situation as players decide to put their trust in family members during contract negotiations and transfers instead of actual agents.
Some of the biggest players in the world are represented by family, which throws up a completely different proposition when negotiations are being made.
There are some who are known to regularly play hardball when it comes to talks as they look to do best for their family. Though some have been criticised for perhaps having too much say in a footballer’s career.

It could be a busy year for Lamari who is not only the Paris Saint-Germain superstar’s mum, but also is his agent.
The Frenchman could be on his way out of the Parc des Princes this summer, so Lamari will be looking to negotiate the best contract possible for her son – who is heavily linked with Real Madrid.
She is known for playing hardball when it comes to business, but reports this week appear to show that she is also tough on her son too.
It was revealed by Le Parisien that she claimed she would ‘retire’ and go on vacation to the Maldives’ if the 25-year-old committed more than 30 per cent of the profits generated by his various companies to his ‘Inspired by KM’ association.
Launched in 2020, his foundation – the idea for which was conceived by his mother – aims to to help 98 children from Paris fulfil their life ambitions.
It sponsors 49 boys and 49 girls between ages nine and 16 who Mbappe claims, ‘will be supported until their working lives begin.’
