December 14, 2023 – Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) – Tacoma Stars News Release
TACOMA, WA. – This Stars (0-2-0) are set to host the Blast (0-2-0) on Sunday, December 17 at 5:05 pm when Baltimore makes their only appearance of the season at the accesso ShoWare Center. It will be the second game of the weekend for the Blast, who will be at Toyota Arena in Ontario, CA to face the Empire Strykers on Friday.
This is only the second time in MASL history that Tacoma and Baltimore have met. The first resulted in a 7-5 Tacoma win on February 19, 2022. Nick Perera led all scorers with four points on a goal and three assists. Six different Stars players scored goals in the win, including Jamael Cox, Raphael Cox, and Mike Ramos.
Tony Donatelli and Ozzy Annang each had three points for Baltimore in the loss.
Both Baltimore and Tacoma come into the weekend looking for their first wins of the season, the Stars having dropped two straight to San Diego, and the Blast with losses to Utica and Texas at home.
Despite the 0-2-0 record to start the 2023-24 season, Stars General Manager and leading scorer Nick Perera was impressed with the team effort, and certainly the Stars fans’ performance last Saturday.
“We are fired up for Sunday. The team put together a strong performance in our last match, in front of an engaged and rowdy Stars crowd, despite the way the match ended. If we show up with that level of passion and desire, and our fans can push us like they did last weekend, we know this team is heading somewhere special.”
This will be the last chance before the New Year for fans to see the team in action at the accesso ShoWare Center. The Stars return on Saturday, January 6, 2024 when Utica City FC makes their first-ever visit to Kent.
