The San Diego Sockers-presented by Kaiser Permanente San Diego-take on a daunting trav-el-play-travel-play challenge in Week 4 of the MASL 2023-24 regular season, heading to Texas to battle the Dallas Sidekicks on Saturday, then returning home for a Sunday evening clash with the Empire Strykers. Saturday’s match from the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas is set for 5:05pm PST. Sunday’s home match at Pechanga Arena will kick off an hour later than usual, 6:05pm PST, to account for travel. Both matches will be streamed live on Twitch on chan-nel @masl_soccer. Sunday’s match will be simulcast in Spanish on Canela.TV

The Sockers (2-0, 6 points), owners of the best record in MASL history all-time at 151-31-5, are back-to-back winners of the MASL Supporters Shield, awarded to the club with the league’s best regular season record. In 2022-23 the Sockers went 22-2, finishing with five more wins than the next-best team. San Diego is 47-2-1 over the last two+ regular seasons. The club carries a twelve-match regular season winning streak into Saturday, dating back to the 2022-23 season.

The Sockers and Dallas Sidekicks will meet twice this season, both times in the state of Texas. The Sockers will return to Allen on February 3 for the second half of a two-match weekend road trip through Texas. By contrast, Sunday’s meeting between the Sockers and Strykers is the first of six regular-season clashes. San Diego and Empire will also meet in an exhibition match on January 11 at the Anaheim Convention Center as part of the United Soccer Coaches Convention.

Last weekend, the Sockers traveled to Washington and pulled a 9-6 win out of accesso ShoWare Center against the Tacoma Stars, rallying for five goals in the fourth quarter to secure the result. Charlie Gonzalez powered the attack for San Diego with a hat trick and two assists, and leads the club with four goals and seven points. Gabriel Costa added a goal and two assists for a sec-ond consecutive three-point match.

In the modern PASL/MASL era, the Sockers are 13-3 against Dallas. In the MASL, San Diego has a 12-1 record against the Sidekicks, including twelve straight wins.
