Nick Pariano Signs with Philadelphia Union

DURHAM – Duke men’s soccer midfielder Nick Pariano has signed a Homegrown contract with MLS side Philadelphia Union, the club announced on Thursday. The contract is guaranteed for two years, with club options for 2026 and 2027. Pariano is the 21st Homegrown player in Union history after spending time with the Philadelphia Union Academy, playing for the U15, U17 and U19 teams.

Pariano made a total of 72 appearances for the Blue Devils through his four-year career, starting in 57 of them. A team captain in each of the last two seasons, Pariano’s steady presence in the midfield helped Duke to an undefeated regular season in 2022 and a first-round bye in the NCAA Tournament in 2023. He finished his Blue Devil career with a total of 10 goals and 26 assists for a total of 46 points, while going 5-for-5 overall from the penalty spot.

The Philadelphia, Pa., native had a career year during the 2023 season, logging career-highs for goals (four), assists (eight), total points (16), game-winning-goals (two), minutes played (1,486) and remained perfect from the penalty spot, going 3-for-3 in 2023. A Preseason All-ACC pick prior to his senior season, Pariano earned First Team All-ACC honors, the first of his career, following the regular season.

Prior to his arrival in Durham, Pariano was a team captain for the U17 Union Academy team, starting 14 games and scored three goals in the shortened 2019-20 season. He also earned one start when called up to the U19 team and also earned opportunities to train with Philadelphia Union first team and Union II. On the international stage, Pariano has also been called into numerous U.S. Soccer Youth National Team camps, most recently for the U20 National Team.

Pariano is the second Blue Devil in as many years to sign an MLS Homegrown contract, joining his former teammate and midfielder, Peter Stroud, who signed with New York Red Bulls after the 2022 season.
