Melenhorst, Diaz Graham Named PNC Achievers of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Women’s soccer’s Keera Melenhorst and men’s basketball’s Guillermo Diaz Graham were named the PNC Achievers of the Week following a successful weekend for Pitt Athletics’ programs.

Keera Melenhorst scored two goals in the Panthers’ two NCAA Tournament games this past week as she helped Pitt women’s soccer clinch a spot in the Elite Eight for the first time in program history. Melenhorst scored a game-tying goal at the end of the first half en route to a second-round victory at Arkansas and a spot in the sweet 16 for the second consecutive year. She would open up the scoring early in the second half of Pitt’s Sweet 16 victory over Memphis off a corner kick as the Panthers would eventually shutout the Tigers 3-0 and advance to the Elite Eight. The Panthers take on ACC opponent and No. 1 seed Florida State in the Elite Eight this Friday, November 24 at 5:30 p.m. in Tallahassee, FL.

Guillermo Diaz Graham recorded his first career double-double in men’s basketball’s 107-56 win over Jacksonville last Friday. Diaz Graham finished with career highs in points (23), rebounds (10) and assists (4) against the Dolphins, while also adding two steals and a blocked shot.  He shot 8-10 from the field and was 6-9 from the free throw line on the evening. Pitt will play in the Preseason NIT at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY this week, taking on Florida on Wednesday, November 22 at 9:30 p.m.
