OL Reign Announces 2023 NWSL Preseason Roster

SEATTLE, WA. – OL Reign has provided a series of roster updates following the conclusion of the 2023 NWSL season.

OL Reign defender Jimena López and midfielder Luany will continue their loan in Liga F, the top-tier women’s football league in Spain, until the end of June 2024. OL Reign is in the process of exercising the option of defender Shae Holmes, who made 12 appearances for the Reign in her rookie season, across all NWSL competitions. The University of Washington graduate was named to the 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup All-Tournament Team, after appearing in all seven games and holding opponents scoreless throughout the six games of group play.


The club’s contractual talks are ongoing with midfielder Olivia Athens, defender Ryanne Brown, goalkeeper Laurel Ivory, defender Alyssa Malonson and goalkeeper Maia Perez.

OL Reign has elected to waive the rights of second-year midfielder Marley Canales, who was selected as the 47th overall pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft by the Reign and totaled 10 appearances across all NWSL competitions since entering the league.

“Marley Canales is a tremendous professional in all senses. Her attitude, effort and approach to everything sets an extremely high standard and we’ve been fortunate to have her in the club,” said general manager Lesle Gallimore. “Marley will undoubtedly continue to pursue opportunities to contribute and have an impact in the game and we wish her nothing but success with her career moving forward.”

Forwards (4): Bethany Balcer, Elyse Bennett, Jordyn Huitema, Veronica Latsko

The following five players are eligible for free agency: midfielder Angelina*, forward Tziarra King*, midfielder Rose Lavelle^, defender Emily Sonnett^ and midfielder Nikki Stanton^.
