Trio Of Bears Named All-Pac-12

Wy, Lema, Fontana Named To Third Team

BERKELEY- Teagan Wy, Karlie Lema, and Mia Fontana of the California women’s soccer team were all named to the All-Pac-12 Third Team, the conference announced Tuesday.

In her first year as the everyday starter between the posts, keeper Wy made a huge impact on the team collecting the second-most saves in program history with 86. That mark was also good for second in the Pac-12. Starting and playing in every match this season, Wy ranked fourth in save percentage (.796) and fifth in save percentage. She also collected five shutouts and posted a 7-6-6 record.

Lema, a junior forward, was the face of the offense for much of the season displaying her overwhelming speed and athleticism in the attacking third on countless occasions. Despite missing three matches with injuries, Lema led the team with 12 points and four assists and ranked second with four goals. She also led all offensive players with 1,141 minutes. Two of her goals came in one match when she earned her first-career brace in a 2-0 Cal Poly where she netted the only two shots she took in just 60 minutes of play.

Fontana ranked third on the team with three goals and got the Bears’ Pac-12 season started on the right foot with a late game winner on the road at Washington. Like Lema, the senior forward missed some contests due to injury but started in nine of the 12 matches that she was available. Fontana ranked first among Bears with 10+ shots on the season with a potent .300 shot percentage netting three of her 10 shots.

These are the first postseason awards for all three Bears.
