May 7, 2023 – MLS NEXT Pro (MLS NEXT Pro)New York Red Bulls II News Release

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – New York Red Bulls II (2-1-3, 11 pts.) return to MSU Soccer Park to face Philadelphia Union II (1-4-1, 5 pts.). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET with coverage available on Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass.

New York is coming into the match on a three-match unbeaten streak, having won two and drawn one over the course of three weeks. Most recently, the club is coming off a shootout victory over Chicago Fire FC II on the road to secure two points in the standings. Red Bulls II are currently sitting at fifth in the Eastern Conference with 11 points.

Philadelphia is having a slower start to their season heading into today’s match. Having only won one in regulation, the club is looking to put their season back on track. Union II have 5 points so far, sitting at 11th in the Eastern Conference standings.

New York’s goalkeeping and defense have been the key to their success at this point, with the club only allowing five goals total in six matches. That number is good for second best in the league, only behind Columbus Crew 2 who have only allowed four. New York has held their opponents to zero goals in the past three matches, thanks to fantastic performances from goalkeeper A.J. Marcucci.

Having not been able to score more than one goal in a match this year, Red Bulls II will attempt to put in a higher offensive output against a Union II team that has allowed the second most goals in the league with 15.

Should New York come out of the match today with a win or a draw, it would extend the team’s unbeaten streak to four matches, which the club has not done since August of 2019.

Coverage will be on MLS Season Pass with Apple TV.
