LAWRENCE, Kan. – Houston Dynamo 2 powered past Sporting KC II for its second win of the season following a 4-1 triumph at Rock Chalk Stadium earlier today.

Sporting Kansas City II got past the Dynamo 2 backline in the ninth minute of the match for the opening goal of the game. This is the second time this season that Dynamo 2 conceded the opening goal of the match and responded with three or more unanswered goals to earn three points. Dynamo 2 conceded in the fourth minute against St. Louis CITY 2 on April 7 and finished with a 3-1 triumph.


Dynamo Dos midfielder Diego Gonazlez scored the equalizer in the 18th minute of the match after Yair Gonzalez found the Dynamo Academy product in the center of the box for the equalizer.

Houston took the lead in the 22nd minute after forward Zeke Soto was fouled in the box by Sporting KC II defender Jahon Rad. Diego Gonzalez laced the ball through the defense for Soto, who was fouled in the process. N’Doye took the ensuing penalty kick to give Dynamo Dos the lead and score his team-leading third goal of the year.

Houston extended its lead in the 78th minute after forward Isaiah Reid drew a foul inside the box. Yair Gonzalez converted from the spot for his second goal of the season.

Reid scored the fourth and final goal of the match in the 86th minute after Diego Gonzalez laced a ball past the SKC II backline. Reid, who entered as a second half substitute in the 60th minute, used his pace to win the ball and beat the goalkeeper at the near post for his first goal as a professional.

Dynamo Dos had an early threat in the third minute of the match, after forward Papa N’Doye started the initial attack by taking on defenders at the edge of the 18-yard box. Despite the initial attempts to clear the ball by the SKC II defense, the ball fell to midfielder Yair Gonzalez who took the first shot on goal for Houston.

Forward Sebastian Rodriguez took a shot in the 35th minute that sailed over the crossbar and out for a goal kick. Rodriguez, who is a Houston Dynamo Academy product made his first appearance and start for Dynamo Dos in the 4-1 win over Sporting KC II.

Defender Talen Maples made a key goal line save in the 51st minute of the match after he denied Andrew Draper’s effort at the far post.
