Union Omaha and Nebraska State Soccer Announce 2023 Summer Series

PAPILLION, Neb. – Union Omaha and the Nebraska State Soccer Association announced today the establishment of the Summer Soccer Series. The Summer Series includes three different events, including a footvolley tournament, skills challenge and 3v3 competition, and works to grow the game of soccer in Nebraska by providing players across the state the opportunity to compete in multiple exciting competitions.


The Footvolley event is open to youth and adult teams and will take place on July 9 in the Omaha area. The Skills Challenge is an individual competition where players will earn points in dribbling, passing and shooting drills. The Skills Challenge and 3v3 events are youth competitions and will each take place regionally, including events in Scottsbluff, Omaha, South Sioux City and Lexington, with the winners from each location advancing to the Summer Series Finals to be held at Werner Park in September. “NSSA has been a great partner of ours for years, and we’re thrilled to work with them to bring fun, competitive soccer tournaments and competitions to communities across the state,” Union Omaha General Manager Peter Marlette said.

“Our partnership with Union Omaha works because of the love for the game and our soccer community that both organizations share,” NSS Director of Operations Crystal Collins said. “We are excited to get out and offer this fun new competition to players in every corner of our state and are so thankful for our host communities for helping make this happen.”
