FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II (3-2-0; 9 pts.) fell to New York Red Bulls II (2-1-2; 6 pts.), 1-0, at Gillette Stadium on Friday night. Forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith led the team with four shots and two on target as goalkeeper Max Weinstein made three saves in the match.


The two sides were scoreless through 45 minutes as New England recorded five shots on target. Midfielder Brandonn Bueno drew a foul in the box in the 19th minute, but his penalty kick opportunity was saved by New York’s AJ Marcucci.

Revolution Academy forward Olger Escobar became the 27th Academy player to make his professional debut with New England’s second team, entering the match in the 71st minute for Bueno.

New York drew a foul in the box in the 75th minute as Oladayo Thomas tallied on the penalty kick to break the tie. New England added on their sixth shot on target in the 85th minute, but would fall in the match, 1-0. Defender Pierre Cayet received a second yellow card in the 92nd minute. Per the MLS NEXT Pro red card suspension rule, Cayet will now miss Revolution II’s next match vs. New York Red Bulls II on June 4.

New England returns to action on Sunday, April 30, hosting FC Cincinnati 2 at Gillette Stadium. The 5 p.m. match will stream live on MLSNEXTPro.com.

Revolution Academy forward Olger Escobar entered the match in the 71st minute for Academy graduate Brandonn Bueno to become the 27th Academy player to make his professional debut with New England’s second team.

Logging the full 90 minutes, midfielder Jake Rozhansky made his 50th appearance with Revolution II.

Forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith recorded four shots with two on target to extend his team lead to 14 shots with six on target through the first five matches of the season.

With a 90-minute performance, forward Malcolm Fry surpassed 500 minutes played in MLS NEXT Pro.

Goalkeeper Max Weinstein made three saves on four shots faced in his first start of the 2023 season.

Midfielder Ben Awashie recorded three shots with two on target in his first start of the year.
