Man Utd rival Liverpool for £50m star as Newcastle discuss 16 big names

Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes and Bayern Munich's Ryan Gravenberch are both targets for Liverpool.

Manchester United have joined the queue of clubs keen to sign Matheus Nunes, while Liverpool are hearing all the right noises from Ryan Gravenberch’s camp…

MAN UTD JOIN LIVERPOOL IN NUNES RACE
Liverpool’s interest in Matheus Nunes is well established. The Reds were tempted to buy the Portugal international from Sporting Lisbon last year but opted not to sign any midfielders whatsoever. Which has not gone well. This summer, Jurgen Klopp needs at least top-class midfielder – we know it won’t be Jude Bellingham – and Nunes is one of the names being continually linked with a move to Anfield.

It seems they have competition. According to Football Insider, Manchester United are also sniffing around the Wolves star.

Like Klopp, Erik ten Hag is intent on adding to his midfield options, despite having signed Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the last year while also borrowing Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich.

Nunes won’t come cheap for either United or Liverpool – or Barcelona, who are also said to be interested in the 24-year-old. Wolves paid a club-record £38million and are expecting at least £50million if they are to flip the versatile midfielder.

REDS RECEIVE GRAVENBERCH BOOST
Liverpool may decide to leave Nunes to United if they can get their hands on Ryan Gravenberch. And the Reds are receiving plenty of encouragement over the Bayern Munich star.

Gravenberch moved to Bavaria last summer from Ajax but the Netherlands international has not enjoyed the playing time he hoped for after making a £16.3million switch. According to the Mirror, Liverpool are hoping that Bayern will be content to get their money back on a player who has started only one Bundesliga game all season.

The 20-year-old seems keen to move on, especially if Liverpool are willing to pay him £200,000 a week. That’s how big his pay-packet would need to be to match his net salary in Munich, and Liverpool are said to have assured Gravenberch’s representatives that would not be a problem when they met in Amsterdam last Wednesday.
