Two ‘variables’ revealed with ‘determining factor’ boosting Ten Hag’s chances

Harry Kane sat on the bench

Tottenham striker Harry Kane is ‘determined’ to become the top scorer in Premier League history, which could rule out a move to Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports.

Kane is on 206 Premier League goals at the time of writing, two behind Wayne Rooney in second and 54 off the record holder Alan Shearer.

He has reached that tally in an impressive 312 matches, with Rooney taking 491 appearances to reach 208 goals. What a fraud.

The fact he is very likely to break Shearer’s record has given Tottenham hope they will be able to hold onto their talisman.

However, Kane is yet to win a trophy in his career and with Spurs going through an awful drought in that department, a move to Man Utd could suit him.

The Red Devils are in the market for a new striker and are reportedly interested in signing the England captain – who is out of contract in 2024.

Spurs are yet to hit the panic button, however, with Daniel Levy expected to reject any bids worth less than £100million.

Bayern Munich are another team interested and would give Kane the perfect chance to finally win some silverware.

Trophies are pretty much guaranteed at the Allianz Arena, though the 29-year-old would probably not break Shearer’s record if he plays in Germany for even two or three seasons.

Although Bayern are a massively successful club, Kane has shown lots of loyalty to Spurs and with the record in mind could stay in the capital.

According to Todo Fichajes, Man Utd are currently the ‘favourites’ to land the Spurs talisman.

He is ‘in the spotlight’ for the Red Devils and Bayern with both ‘in the race’ to sign him.

It is noted that the Bavarians are still looking to replace Robert Lewandowski after he joined Barcelona last year.

Levy is obviously ‘reluctant’ to sell the player to a Premier League rival, which is a boost for Bayern.

However, Man Utd are still the favourites with Kane ‘determined to become the top scorer in Premier League history’.

There are ‘several variables’ that will have a huge bearing on where Kane is playing his football in 2023-24.

Firstly, he wants an ambitious managerial appointment following the sacking of Antonio Conte.

Brendan Rodgers and Julian Nagelsmann have both been linked with the job, though the latter is one of the favourites to join Chelsea.

Another ‘determining factor’ is Spurs’ bid to qualify for the Champions League.
