Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has insisted this week’s negative headlines surrounding Kyle Walker are a “private issue”.

Man City and England full-back Walker is being investigated by police following allegations he indecently exposed himself in a bar.

City manager Guardiola said of the matter at a press conference: “A private issue. We solved it internally, speaking with him. Of course this is not the place to discuss private situations.”

The incident is alleged to have taken place during a two-day break after City’s Premier League victory over Newcastle last Saturday.

It is understood Walker contests the allegations and has reported for training as normal this week.

On the general issue of the importance of players being careful about their behaviour in public, Guardiola said: “It’s completely different from years ago. They know it.

“When you open the door at home you have to know you will be filmed whatever you do. It is part of society.”

Guardiola has revealed thet will travel to London by flight at the weekend as they face Crystal Palace after delays in getting into the capital for their trip to Tottenham last month.

The Man City boss said: “It was that day, six hours from here to the hotel. But we didn’t lose to Tottenham because of that trip. That day for many reasons, the traffic, delays to trains many hours. That day it took six hours.”

On whether travel plans will change due to snow, Guardiola replied:  “No. We will travel by plane in the night and hopefully we land safe and go to the hotel.”

Guardiola on Phil Foden’s foot injury added: “Yeah apparently he’s okay, yeah.”

On Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira, who is coming under pressure, Guardiola continued: “I’ve not been with him in the locker room but his experience as football player, he was in France and had big experience and with Palace he’s done a really good job.

“In the Premier League every game is hard. At home against Crystal Palace we struggle a lot to get results.”
