Man City player ‘set to reject’ Real Madrid and Barcelona despite being ‘ostracised’ by teammate

Man City duo Alvarez and Haaland

Man City forward Julian Alvarez is reportedly ‘set to reject’ interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona as he is ‘very happy’ at the Premier League club.

Alvarez has impressed since he joined Man City last year from Argentinian side River Plate. He has grabbed 10 goals and three assists in 31 outings across all competitions.

This is even with him largely playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland, who has been in sensational goalscoring form following his move from Borussia Dortmund.

The Norway international has grabbed 33 goals and four assists in 33 appearances since he signed for Manchester City.

‘He’s very happy at the club, and the club are very happy with him, and Man City are not expecting any obstacles to arise in these talks, I’m told.

‘There have been whispers of interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.

‘If he’s not going to start regularly for City, then perhaps it does raise the question of him being lured away.

‘But they see him as a long-term project and the club want him in the squad as they challenge for more and more honours.’

O’Rourke has also confirmed that Nathan Ake is ‘in talks’ with Man City over a new…
