Twitter reacts as Chelsea's loss to Southampton piles pressure on Graham Potter

Chelsea’s woes continued against Southampton with the relegation-battlers winning 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon to put even more pressure on the struggling Graham Potter.

The big news ahead of kick-off was that Potter had dropped Mykhaylo Mudryk, with Mason Mount taking the place of the new signing in the starting XI, and given a start to David Datro Fofana.

It was the away side that made the stronger start, and while Chelsea grew into the game, they didn’t take control for the entirety of the first half.

They were punished at the very end of it when James Ward-Prowse scored yet another free-kick to give his side the lead.

Thanks to his strike, manager-less Southampton went into the break level, and it was a fair scoreline in the eyes of many.

Given that, it was little surprise to see Potter make two changes for the final 45 minutes, with Raheem Sterling and Wesley Fofana being brought on.

Those changes had the desired effect initially as the Blues started to dominate proceedings, pushing for an equaliser and firing up the Stamford Bridge faithful in the process.

For all of their hard work though, they couldn’t find a goal, which led to Potter looking to his bench once again just after the hour mark.

Mount was one of the two players to come off, and supporters of his team weren’t pleased with how he had performed to say the least, with the midfielder scarcely getting involved.

Even with Mudryk and Kai Havertz on though, Chelsea still couldn’t break through, which was made all the more concerning by the fact that this was a Southampton side that had rarely been able to prevent opponents from scoring in…
