PSG's Kylian Mbappe Ruled Out For Three Weeks Due to Injury

Kylian Mbappe will miss three weeks due to a thigh injury meaning he will miss Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League last-16 first leg against Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old France international sustained the injury during PSG’s 3-1 win over Montpellier on Wednesday.

Mbappe had missed a re-taken penalty twice before being replaced in the 21st minute during a difficult outing for him.

“After undergoing tests, Kylian Mbappe suffered an injury to the left thigh at the level of the femoral biceps. He is expected to be out of action for three weeks,” PSG said in an official statement.

By that timeline, Mbappe will miss a minimum of five matches, including the crucial clash with Bayern at Parc des Princes scheduled for February 14.

The second leg of that glamour Champions League tie is in Munich on March 8, when Mbappe should be recovered.

Mbappe will miss Ligue 1 games against Toulouse, Monaco and Lille, with PSG currently top of the table by five points.

The 2022 World Cup star has netted 25 goals with six assists in 26 appearances for PSG this term.

PSG have only won two of their past five league games, amid some unconvincing form after the World Cup.

Mbappe and Lionel Messi both played significant roles for their countries at the World Cup, with France and Argentina reaching the final.
