Man City star ‘wants to leave’ but desired transfer to European giant is ‘practically impossible’

Silva to leave Man City

Man City attacker Bernardo Silva reportedly ‘wants to leave’ the club in the summer and he would prefer to play in Spain so he ‘will listen’ to Barcelona.

Silva has consistently been linked with a move away from Manchester City in recent months. Barcelona were heavily linked with him but they were unable to get a deal over the line.

Barcelona’s interest in Silva was said to be dependent on Frenkie de Jong’s future, as him going to Man Utd would have freed up funds for them to pursue the Man City star.

Silva has grabbed two goals and five assists in 30 appearances across all competitions this season. He has started 15 times in the Premier League.

He continues to be linked with a move elsewhere and he is among a few players at Man City who are ‘unhappy’ with Pep Guardiola, according to reports.

Joao Cancelo left City towards the end of the transfer window last month as he joined Bayern Munich on loan. The defender was reportedly angry after dropping down the pecking order in recent games.

Along with Silva, the other players said to be unhappy with Guardiola are Ilkay Gundogan, Aymeric Laporte and Kyle Walker.

City boss Guardiola recently insisted that Silva is an “incredible player”.

“He’s a key player, so important on and off the pitch. A guy who can talk, always a nice conversation, always you learn about his humanity, his vision for the club.

“He’s an incredible player against top sides, incredibly reliable in decisive games he’s always there. Nothing changed about his future, it belongs to him.”

Spanish outlet Sport are reporting that Silva does intend ‘want to leave’ Manchester City. He ‘did not want to negotiate’ in January as he had ‘no intention’ to depart the club mid-season but he is keen to move on in the summer.

Silva would be open to a move to Barcelona but ‘they admit that it is a practically impossible operation for this summer due to the limitations that LaLiga is imposing with the salary limit’.

The Portugal international is ‘not a priority’ for Real Madrid but PSG ‘are interested’. The report sets that Silva could negotiate with the Ligue 1 giants if ‘he does not have any viable offer’ from Spain.

In terms of replacements for Silva, Man City are reporting showing interested in Leicester City’s James Maddison. Former Premier League forward Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks the Englishman would be a “great signing”.

“He’s definitely a player who would suit them,”…
