Todd Boehly sends private jet to finalise Chelsea's staggering £115m move for Enzo Fernandez

Chelsea are pushing hard to secure a deadline day move for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez after sending a private jet to Lisbon for negotiations, according to reports.

It looks like Todd Boehly is set to continue his mega-spending spree after submitting a bid worth up to £115m for the Argentine.

If the deal goes through, Fernandez will become the Premier League’s most expensive player ever, so there will be massive pressure on him to perform.

Chelsea owner Boehly has spent enormous amount on bolstering Graham Potters squad this month, after bringing in the likes of Mykaylo MudrykBenoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, Joao Felix (loan), Noni Madueke and Malo Gusto.

But he has saved the most expensive deal to last with Fernandez, who could arguably become one of the Blues most important players.

Potter is certainly in need of midfield reinforcements too, with Jorginho now set to join Arsenal in a shock move, while N’Golo Kante has also been linked with a summer departure.

Fernandez has been in excellent form this season, making 16 appearances, scoring one goal and making five assists.

Where he caught the eye in particular, though, was playing in the World Cup for Argentina, where he put in consistently high-level performances and scored a fantastic goal against Mexico in the group stages.

Indeed, Fernandez was a key player as he helped his country to their first World Cup victory since 1986, attracting…
