Ayoze Perez completes loan move to Real Betis after Leicester approve the winger’s departure – and he looks to have played his last game for the club with his contract expiring in the summer

Ayoze Perez has completed his loan move from Leicester to Real Betis.

The winger has been free to negotiate a return to Spain for the last two weeks and has now agreed a deal to stay with Betis until the end of the season.

With Perez’s Leicester contract expiring at the end of the campaign, he will be a free agent at the end of the campaign, and has likely played his last game for Leicester.

Perez joined the Foxes from Newcastle three-and-a-half years ago but has struggled to nail down a regular place during that time.

With Perez’s contract expiring at the end of the season, he would be free to sign permanently for Betis – or any other club – in the summer.

Perez joined Leicester from Newcastle in summer 2019 for £30million.

The 29-year-old has made 114 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 15 goals.

Perez has played a limited role this season, starting just three matches in the Premier League.

Amid speculation over his future, Perez was left out of Leicester’s squad for their last two Premier League games, as well as their fourth round FA Cup tie against Walsall.

Real Betis have won the race to sign the winger, with Villarreal having also had an interest in taking Perez back to LaLiga.

Leicester have been pursuing Leeds winger Jack Harrison, with the Foxes having seen a £20million bid rejected last week.

Harrison has 18 months left on his contract and would be open to signing a new deal with Jesse Marsch’s side.

He has also been unsure about the idea of joining another club who are fighting for Premier League survival.

The Foxes have already signed left-back Victor Kristiansen from Copenhagen and are pressing ahead with a move for Stoke centre-back Harry Souttar, who is valued at about £15m.
