Hocking Drafted by NJ/NY Gotham FC

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Arizona fifth-year midfielder/defender Iliana Hocking has been drafted in the 2023 NWSL Draft by NJ/NY Gotham FC. She went in the fourth round as the 44th pick.

Hocking closed out her Wildcat career with five goals and four assists to tally 14 points. Three of those goals came in her sophomore year. Her goal against Oregon State in the 2022 season helped seal a close 3-2 win over the Beavers.

“Iliana is one of the most competitive people I know,” said head coach Becca Moros. “Her passion for the game and drive are unmatched. I’m excited to watch her continue to grow as she takes on this new challenge in the pros.”

The Anaheim, Calif., native was a leader for the Wildcats in her fifth year, starting in 17 of 18 matches and playing 90 minutes in three competitions. She started 84 games for Arizona, the second-most in program history. Hocking played in every match as a sophomore and fifth-year player, tallying 4,331 minutes on the pitch over the course of her career.
