Big Ten Tournament Central

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State continues its season in the 2022 Big Ten Tournament Semifinals at Rutgers Wednesday. First touch between the No. 3 Buckeyes and the No. 2 Scarlet Knights is scheduled for 6 p.m. The Big Ten Network will broadcast the match.

Ohio State (10-2-5) defeated No. 6 Michigan State, 1-0, to advance. Rutgers (8-4-6) continued on after a scoreless tie with No. 7 Wisconsin. The Scarlet Knights moved on by winning 5-4 in penalty kicks.

The Buckeyes and Scarlet Knights battled to a 2-all draw Sept. 30 in Columbus during the regular season.

  • Ohio State entered the 2022 Big Ten Tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Buckeyes are 21-26-2 all-time in the league tournament, including a 4-4 record as the No. 3 seed. When playing in Columbus, Ohio State is 10-4 in BTT competition after the 1-0 win over MSU last week.
  • The Buckeyes are 2-0 in league tournament play vs. the Scarlet Knights. Ohio State defeated Rutgers 4-0 in 2015 and 1-0 in 2019 in BTT competition. The Buckeyes are 11-22-2 away from Columbus in conference tournament play.
  • Prior to facing Michigan State, Ohio State last played host to a league tournament game in 2015 as the No. 1 seed. The Buckeyes defeated Penn State (1-0, ot) and Rutgers (4-0) before a loss to Maryland (0-2).
  • The Buckeyes finished 7-0-2 at home during the 2022 regular season and then added a win in the 2022 Big Ten Tournament over MSU for an 8-0-2 record at JOMS this year. Ohio State was 8-0-1 in 2010 and 4-0-1 in 1974 and 4-0-0 in both 1965 and 1967 to mark the only other undefeated home seasons in Ohio State history. The eight home wins this year are the most since a 10-2-2 record at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in 2015.
  • Ohio State entered postseason competition at 9-2-5 overall, the most wins since the 2015 team posted a 13-7-3 overall record. The Buckeyes (10-2-5) have won 10 or more games in a season 20 times in program history.
