Senior Day Shutout – Stanford University Athletics

California

STANFORD, Calif. – Honoring six seniors prior to the match, No. 7 Stanford (16-2-1, 9-1-0 Pac-12) earned a 2-0 shutout victory over Colorado (8-7-4, 2-6-2 Pac-12) on Sunday afternoon from Cagan Stadium.

Seniors Madison Ayson, Emily Chiao, Maya Doms, Katie Duong, Paige Rubinstein and Kennedy Wesley were all recognized as part of Senior Day.

The win stretched Stanford’s win streak to nine matches, while it has not allowed a goal in the last five. The five consecutive shutouts are the most for the Cardinal since stringing together eight from October 3-31, 2019.

Junior goalkeeper Ryan Campbell recorded the clean sheet for the Cardinal, making three saves, while the Stanford defense held Colorado to just six shots overall. The shutout was Campbell’s eighth of the year.

After posting a pair of goals in a 5-0 victory over Utah on Thursday, graduate student Abby Greubel got the scoring going once again on Sunday with her fifth of the season in the 45th minute. The native of Santa Ana, Calif. received a ball near the corner flag on the left side of the field, dribbled into space across the top of the box and unleashed a right-footed shot from the edge of the 18 that found the back of the net.

The goal capped a solid first half for the Cardinal that included seven shots and nine Cardinal corner kicks.

Stanford extended the lead to 2-0 in the 75th minute when redshirt-sophomore Catherine Paulson put away her third goal of the year. Redshirt-senior
