Cards Host No. 6 Notre Dame to Conclude Homestand


LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women’s soccer team (5-5-2, 2-4-0) will wrap up a three-game home stretch this Saturday with a match-up against No. 6 Notre Dame at 7 p.m. This will mark the fifth game this season against a ranked opponent, three of which were inside the top 10. All four ranked matchups this season were on the road for the Cards. The game will be aired on the ACC Network Extra. 
 
Louisville is coming off a 1-0 victory against Boston College as the Cards registered their sixth shutout of the season. The Cardinals took an early advantage in the contest as captain Sarah Hernandez scored in the 24th minute, her first goal on the season, with Savina Zamborini picking up the assist on the play. Louisville held the Eagles to just four shots, with only one being on goal, which was saved by goalkeeper Erynn Floyd
 
Anouk Denton will return for the Cards after missing the last two matches. Denton traveled to England after being selected for the U23 women’s national team’s training camp. During that time, England had two international matches against Norway and Sweden. Norway edged England 2-0 on Oct. 6 where Denton saw action coming off the bench. England went on to tie Sweden 1-1 on Oct. 10, Denton did not get playing time in the contest. The sophomore defender has been a key contributor to the Card’s backline, starting in all 10 games she has been available this season. Denton has also played in all 90 minutes in each of those 10 contests.
 
Karsyn Cherry will also return to the field after missing the previous two games due to injury. As a freshman, Cherry has started in all 10 games she has been available for and is the second leading scorer on the season for the Cardinals with three goals.
 
ABOUT THE FIGHTING IRISH

Notre Dame (11-2, 4-2) is coming off a home victory over No. 3 Florida State in which the Fighting Irish shut out the Seminoles 4-0. Following the win, forward Olivia Wingate and goalkeeper Mackenzie Wood earned ACC Player of the week honors. It was the second time Wingate received the award this season. The Fighting Irish have outscored their last three opponents by a combined score of 10-0, propelling the Fighting Irish to a three-game winning streak.
