WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – No. 10 Rutgers women’s soccer (11-1-1, 3-1-1) begins a three-match homestand hosting Indiana (2-4-6, 0-4-1) on Sun., Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. ET at Yurcak Field and live on ESPN2 with Steve Schlanger and Lori Lindsey on the call.

It is Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Yurcak Field. Breast cancer survivors Sandra Lowrey and Jeanette Mason, the respective mother’s of Rutgers student-athletes Allison and Emily, will serve as honorary captains on Sunday. Additionally, the first 250 fans at Yurcak Field on Sunday will receive a pink headband, courtesy of RWJBarnabas Health.

Rutgers blanked Purdue (3-8-1, 0-4-1) in a 3-0 victory last Sunday afternoon at Folk Field and live on Big Ten Network. Junior forward Sam Kroeger scored 4:21 into the contest, then sophomore back Emily Mason recorded her first collegiate brace before halftime to push Rutgers to an early 3-0 lead it would not relinquish in Rutgers’ seventh shutout win of the season. Sophomore midfielder Kylie Daigle assisted the first two goals in the victory and junior midfielder Becci Fluchel assisted the third.

SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS: Indiana is 2-4-6 overall and 0-4-1 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers started the season with eight consecutive matches without conceding a single goal, including six scoreless draws. The 0-0 result against then-No. 8 Penn State tied the defensive program record of 720 consecutive minutes of scoreless soccer. Since then, Indiana has lost four straight in the Big Ten while being outscored, 11-0.

Jordyn Levy leads the offense with five points on two goals and an assist, followed by Ava Akeel’s four points on a pair of goals. Jamie Gerstenberg was in net for Indiana’s six shutouts, sporting a 0.56 GAA and .875 SV%.

Rutgers leads the all-time series over Indiana, 6-1-1, while outscoring the Hoosiers, 10-3, since RU joined the Big Ten Conference in 2014. That record includes a 4-0 mark for Rutgers when the match is played in Piscataway. Last season, the Scarlet Knights defeated IU 2-0 on the road to clinch the outright Big Ten Championship title behind a four-save shutout from goalkeeper Meagan McClelland.
