Paul Merson has backed Son Heung-Min to “return to his best” for Tottenham Hotspur amid his disappointing start to the 2022/23 campaign.
Son has proven to be a sensational signing for Spurs. He has struck up a brilliant partnership with Harry Kane.
The South Korea international was one of the best players in the Premier League last season as he shared the Golden Boot award with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

After finishing fourth last term, Spurs are expected to kick on this season under Antonio Conte.
They now have more options to choose from up front with Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski being added to their squad.
Tottenham have made an unbeaten start in the Premier League, but Son has been out of sorts. He has only been involved in one goal in eight outings across all competitions.
The forward struggled again in midweek as Tottenham were beaten 2-0 by Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League group stages. Glenn Hoddle claimed post-match that Son had a “torrid” evening:
“He’s had another torrid game,” Hoddle said.
“I love him to bits and he is a fabulous player but he is struggling.
“As the ball’s coming to him he’s worried about his first touch, whereas when you’re in sync and confident you don’t have to worry about that, you’re thinking about what you’re doing next.”
Tottenham are back in action on Saturday evening as they host Leicester City.
Merson has claimed that Spurs “are not playing well” but he has backed them to beat Brendan Rodgers’ side 3-0.
The ex-Arsenal player has also suggested that Son will “return to his best” as the “cream always rises to the top”:
“Tottenham are not playing well at the moment, let’s be honest. The game against Sporting in the UEFA Champions League was a bad one for them, but in my opinion, it could help them in the long run,” Merson wrote for Sportskeeda.
“At the start of the Premier League season, I felt results were papering over their cracks, which obviously wouldn’t be the case anymore after what happened in Europe midweek.
“That said, I still fancy them to bounce back and beat Leicester City this weekend.
“The Foxes are all over the place and it looks to me like their players aren’t working for each other, which is a worrying sign for Brendan Rodgers.
“They have good players, but it just isn’t working for them at the moment.
