TACOMA, WASH. – Tacoma Defiance (12-4-4, 43 points) returns home tonight to battle Sporting Kansas City II (8-10-2, 26 points) at Starfire Stadium (7:00 p.m. PT / mlsnextpro.com).

After losing to Minnesota United FC 2 on Monday, Defiance is looking to get back in the win column and stay atop the league. Kansas City sits in eighth place in the Western Conference Standings with 26 points.

With a win on Saturday and an Earthquakes II loss or draw, Tacoma would clinch the Pacific Division, punching its ticket to the postseason. If Tacoma earns a shootout win at the and of a draw in regulation, it can clinch the division with an Earthquakes II loss or shootout loss. In the event Tacoma loses a shooutout, Defiance would still clinch with an Earthquakes II loss in regulation.

Head Coach Wade Webber is out for tonight’s match against Sporting Kansas City II due to Health & Safety Protocols. Assistant Coach Michael Morris will assume head coaching duties for the match.

Following tonight’s match, Tacoma hits the road for its final two away matches of the year, starting with a fixture against Real Monarchs on Friday, August 26 at Zions Bank Stadium (6:00 p.m. PT / mlsnextpro.com).
