(on the team’s performance tonight) “The goal, every game, is to try and score in the first 20 minutes. If you can put a team under pressure by scoring an early goal, I think you have a real advantage and momentum going into the end of the first half and then even the second half. We scored and then we make a mistake. And it’s funny because everybody makes mistakes. Some are small, some are big. That mistake cost us a goal and I was a little bit disappointed in the reaction from the boys after that mistake. I didn’t feel like they really pushed it aside. I felt like it dragged on until the end of the half, and at halftime I really challenged them. If it were nil-nil at halftime, going in 0-0, I think the mentality would have been different. ‘Okay, we’re going to go and get this result.’ So I really challenged them to make sure that they understand that mistakes happen, and now it’s up to us to put that effort in and really, really execute the game plan. So (their response was) really important.”

(on MF Isaiah LeFlore’s debut tonight) “He wanted to be here. He’s one of the guys who’s an active learner. He wants to be a part of it. When he knew that he was clear, knowing that his ITC (international transfer certificate) had gone through, he came into our office and said, ‘I want to know exactly what you need from me. I want to know what the game plan is. I want to know the game model is,’ and so we knew right away that he was going to play a part for the performance. Fantastic. I mean, it’s not easy. It’s not easy, also, coming into a season where guys have 14 games under their belt and now you’re coming off of not particularly playing, just training, and you have to step into a high-speed game, but his goal, that’s why we brought him here. He’s unbelievable. And he’s a multi-use player. He can play different positions. So I think he’s excited for the Club.”

(On FW Jacob Evans’ performance tonight) “Yeah. Jacob’s a funny guy. He is a grinder out here. You know, when Jacob came on trial, I’d worked with him before. He’s a huge piece of the culture of this team. Huge piece. But for him, he’s had a lot of chances to score goals and just haven’t gone in. His dad was here and he had this big cut-out of his head. And we were like, ‘Well, if that was your actual head, you’ve scored all the balls that you’ve had whipped into you in previous games,’ and…
