SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes defeated Chicago Fire FC 2-1 last Sunday at PayPal Park. The win sees San Jose improve to 4-0-1 at home under interim head coach Alex Covelo.
Following their efforts on Sunday, Benji Kikanović and JT Marcinkowski were selected to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Week for Week 18. Kikanović scored two goals, including the game-winner, while Marcinkowski made five saves.
The Earthquakes are now preparing for two consecutive road matches, first traveling to Canada to face Toronto FC on Saturday, July 9. The match will kick off from BMO Field at 4:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on NBC Sports California, KNBR 1050 (English), and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).
