LA Galaxy II Earne a 3-0 Shutout Win

EL PASO, Texas – LA Galaxy II’s three-match unbeaten run came to an end with a 4-0 loss on the road to El Paso Locomotive FC on Saturday night.

Goal-Scoring Plays

ELP – Eric Calvillo (Josue Gomez), 16th minute: Locomotive FC took the lead after a cross from the right by Christiano Francois found Josue Gomez at the back post. Gomez turned it back centrally where Eric Calvillo tucked home from close range.

ELP – Own Goal (Liam Doyle), 32nd minute: El Paso doubled its lead when LA defender Liam Doyle played a backpass that snuck just inside the near post.

ELP – Diego Luna (Josue Gomez), 39th minute: El Paso won possession in the attacking half and after moving into the penalty area the attacker paused and found the advancing run of Luna, who shot low into the right corner.

ELP – Luis Solignac (Diego Luna), 63rd minute: Locomotive FC found the net in the 63rd minute when a deflected shot by Dylan Mares spun in the path of Diego Luna, who controlled and sent the ball into the six-yard area where Solignac tucked home.

Postgame Notes

Following the loss to El Paso, LA Galaxy II (3-4-1, 11 points) sit in eighth place in the Western Conference standings, one point behind seventh place Sacramento Republic FC (3-2-3, 12 points)

In four matches played on the road this season, LA holds a 0-2-2 record.

The match against El Paso was the first time Galaxy II were shutout during the 2022 campaign.

Eric López sustained his first loss of the season in goal for LA (3-1-1). registered a season-high five saves and his second shutout in the win over Phoenix.

Five LA Galaxy Academy products (Felipe Cobian, Taylor Davila, Cameron Dunbar, Eric López and Jalen Neal) started in the win over Phoenix, while one additional academy product (Adrian Gonzalez) came off the bench.

Dunbar tallied a team-high four shots and two shots on target.

Neal finished the match with a game-high six interceptions and six clearances.
