Leeds transfer latest: Josh Brownhill back on radar as Jesse Marsch looks to end ridiculous Whites stat

Josh Brownhill, Burnley midfielder, celebrates his goal in the Premier League win over Watford

Leeds United are firmly back in the mix to sign Josh Brownhill this summer, claims a report – but the potential deal hinges on one major outcome.

The midfielder has been one of Burnley’s most consistent stars in recent weeks under the leadership of interim coach Mike Jackson. Together, they have helped the Clarets claim three successive victories to kickstart their survival push. Indeed, Brownhill scored the crucial winner last weekend with Burnley fighting back to record a crucial win at Watford.

He will likely be central to Burnley’s plans as the race for survival goes to the wire.

However, his long-term future at Turf Moor looks far from certain.

And as per 90min, Leeds are ready to resurrect their efforts to prise the midfielder across the Pennines this summer.

We exclusively revealed how Brownhill was a target for Leeds, then under Marcelo Bielsa, last summer.

Ultimately, Leeds decided against his signing, deciding instead to spend £25m on Daniel James. The winger signed from Manchester United, joining Junior Firpo (£13m), Jack Harrison (£11m) and Kristoffer Klaesson (£1.6m) as their summer signings.

Now, though, Leeds are ready to go back in for Brownhill this summer, with the 26-year-old also catching Jesse Marsch’s eye.

The report states West Ham are also keen on the midfielder with David Moyes an admirer.

Furthermore, Wolves, Aston Villa and Everton are also watching developments.

As per the report though, it is seemingly West Ham and Leeds who lead the chase.

Leeds’ hopes of a deal, however, rest on their survival prospects.

The Whites are firmly embroiled in the fight for survival again on the back of Burnley’s incredible run.

Marsch’s side looked as good as safe a month ago following a 3-0 win at Watford. But just one point since, together with Burnley’s run, means it is likely to be one of them, or Everton, who drop.

Leeds face a trip to Arsenal on Sunday, while Burnley host Aston Villa on Saturday. You can see our predictions…
