Exclusive: Chelsea transfer target's future to be discussed next month, says expert

The future of RB Leipzig striker and Chelsea transfer target Benjamin Sesko will be discussed next month, according to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Slovenia international is a highly regarded young talent who’s impressed in his time in the Bundesliga, and Romano says it’s nothing new that Chelsea have him on their radar, though there’s no significant update on the player’s situation as of yet.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for the latest edition of his Daily Briefing column, Romano provided some insight into the Sesko transfer situation, explaining that his future could be discussed next month, but not now.

Chelsea fans will no doubt be keeping an eye on how those talks go, as the Blues clearly seem to be long-term admirers of the 20-year-old, who looks like he could be an ideal signing up front to give Mauricio Pochettino an upgrade on the misfiring Nicolas Jackson.

Sesko transfer: Chelsea interest not new, but decision to come later

Benjamin Sesko to Chelsea?

Discussing Sesko and the Chelsea links, Romano said: “Staying with Chelsea, I’m aware of more links with Benjamin Sesko, but it’s not really new, as I’ve mentioned Chelsea’s interest before. Still, I think we have to be patient on Sesko – time for decisions is not now, on both club and player side. It’s one to discuss probably next month, but now is still not something decided or clear.”

It’s been a hugely frustrating season for CFC, and a new striker like Sesko could be ideal to help take them to the next level, though some fans might argue they also need more proven and experienced players, rather than another young talent for the future.

There will also be continued debate about Pochettino and his suitability for the job, with the Argentine not really living up to expectations so far, and with some talk of Ruben Amorim being a candidate to replace him.
