Atletico Ottawa News Release

OTTAWA, ON – Atlético Ottawa heads on the road for the first time this season, travelling to Halifax Wanderers FC for their 2024 Canadian Premier League Home Opener (KO 1pm ET, live on OneSoccer). Ottawa’s unbeaten start to the campaign (1-1-0) will be put to the test in Nova Scotia against a side that got the better of them in both visits to the Wanderers Grounds in 2023.

Here’s everything you need to know before Saturday’s clash in Halifax.

Atlético Ottawa is currently in 4th place in the Canadian Premier League table.

Ottawa beat York United in the ‘Save a Life’ Home Opener last weekend, coming from behind to win 2-1.

Before splitting points a week later with Cavalry FC benefitting from a late own-goal as the match ended 1-1.

This was Atlético’s 100th competitive match (all competitions).

Amer Didić (who scored his first goal for Atlético) and Kris Twardek were named to the CPL ‘Team of the Week’ following their performances against Cavalry.

This is Twardek’s second appearance already this season.

This will be the debut of The “Soccer Culture” Kit, created in collaboration with Ottawa Tourism and celebrating people of influence within the Ottawa soccer community.

Active Newcomer Youth Ottawa (ANYO) and Atlético’s Official Supporters Groups were the first to be recognized for their work.

Atlético and Halifax have an almost even record across 16 matches.

Halifax qualified for the playoffs in 2024, hosting their first-ever home playoff match.

Ottawa striker Samuel Salter is the highest active scorer in this match-up (5 goals) and has played for both sides.

This is Halifax’s first home match of the year having beaten Ottawa in both meetings in Nova Scotia last season.

Fans in the Ottawa region can watch the match at Glebe Central Pub, the official pub of the Capital City Supporters Group (CCSG), on Saturday at 1pm.

CCSG hosts viewing parties for all away fixtures at Glebe Central Pub throughout the season.

Record head-to-head (all-time): 7W-3D-6L; 24 goals scored, 21 goals conceded.
